SB 2706    RELATING TO TAXATION                       TRN/EDB,FIN
SD 1       Establishes that amounts received from leasing
        aircraft for commercial usage are not subject to
        general excise tax; clarifies existing use tax
        exemption.

SB 2303    RELATING TO HARBORS                            TRN,FIN
SD 2       Transfers certain PSC taxes to the harbor special fund
        for the improvement of cruise ship facilities.

SB 2300    RELATING TO HARBORS                            TRN,FIN
SD 2       Allows DOT and DLNR to enter into cost-containment
        contracts with private developers for public
        improvements that cost up to $2,000,000 without
        legislative approval.  Allows DOT and DLNR to enter
        into such contracts up to $5,000,000 with legislative
        approval.

SB 2299    RELATING TO HARBORS                        TRN,WLU,FIN
SD 1       Excludes Piers 1 and 2 at Fort Armstrong from the
        Kakaako community development district.

SB 2301    RELATING TO HARBORS                        TRN,WLU,FIN
SD 2       Establishes definition for maritime lands.


 
SB 2311    RELATING TO MANDATORY USE OF SEATBELTS         TRN,JHA
SD 1       Requires all passengers to wear seatbelts.

SB 3100    RELATING TO TEMPORARY INSTRUCTION PERMIT       TRN,JHA
        Increases term of driver's license learner's permit
        from 180 days to one year.  Eff. 01/01/01.

SB 2316    RELATING TO DRIVER'S LICENSES                  TRN,FIN
SD 1       Permits the use of foreign language exams by examiner
        of drivers.

SB 2643    RELATING TO TRAFFIC OFFENSES                   TRN,JHA
SD 1       Replaces the term traffic "accident" with the term
        traffic "collision".

SB 1390    RELATING TO TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS                 TRN,JHA
SD 2       Amends the offense of reckless driving to include the
        commission of multiple traffic violations within a
        limited distance.

SB 3201    RELATING TO A SCENIC HIGHWAYS SYSTEM           TRN,FIN
SD 1       Establishes a Scenic Byway System.

SB 2955    RELATING TO HIGHWAY SAFETY                     TRN,JHA
        Sets forth the authority of the DOT director to adopt
        administrative rules dealing with road use
        restrictions.

SB 2635    RELATING TO HIGHWAYS                           TRN,JHA
        Lowers highway vending from misdemeanor to petty
        misdemeanor and extends definition of crime to include
        the risk of creating a hazardous condition or public
        nuisance.

SB 2953    RELATING TO CONTROL OF VENDING                 TRN,JHA
SD 1       Clarifies provisions relating to activities which
        violate the public's "right-of-way."

SB 2725    RELATING TO TOWING COMPANIES                   TRN,CPC
        Requires all towing companies, not only the ones being
        called to tow a vehicle, to have a sign on vehicle
        doors with the name and telephone number of the towing
        business.

SB 2318    RELATING TO ADMINISTRATIVE REVOCATION OF DRIVER'S
SD 2       LICENSES                                       TRN,JHA
        Amends the law relating to administrative revocation
        of driver's licenses to include revocation of all
        motor vehicle registrations issued to a driver who has
        been convicted of a previous violation of driving

 
 
 
        under the influence of intoxicating liquor or
        habitually driving under the influence of liquor or
        drugs.

SB 3073    RELATING TO IMPAIRED DRIVING                   TRN,JHA
SD 2       Adds habitual driving offense to implied consent law.
        Defines a preliminary alcohol screen and clarifies
        that it is not a substitute for a test under the
        implied consent law.
